Our condolences to Andrew&#8217;s family.<\/p>\n<p>Pelto, Andrew Byron, a resident of Milford for 35 years, was received in the loving arms of Jesus, Friday, August 26, 2011.\u00a0\u00a0 Andrew passed at home in the care of his family.\u00a0 He was 79 years old. Born on November 23, 1931 in Bessemer, MI he was the son of Tynne Marianne Kangus and Andrew Herman Pelto.<\/p>\n<p>He served our country as a member of the Marine Corps during the Korean War and the historic Battle of Chosin Reservoir in Northeastern Korea.\u00a0 This Marine is one of the \u201cChosin Few.\u201d\u00a0 He was a member of the Milford American Legion Post #216.<\/p>\n<p>He graduated from Wayne State University in 1957 with a Bachelors Degree in Science, Mechanical Engineering.\u00a0 He worked at Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Hydromation Company and was a founding member of Filtra-Systems Company.<\/p>\n<p>He retired in 1994 and enjoyed his family and his faith in God.\u00a0 He was an active attendee of South Hill Church in Milford and taught youth classes, vacation bible study and sang in the choir and Church productions and Christmas Eve services.\u00a0 Andrew enjoyed many family gatherings and the solitude at the family cottage on Big Wolf Lake in Lewiston, MI.\u00a0 Winter vacations in Madeira Beach, FL were enjoyed for many years with family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Marion June (nee. Petrick) and their children, Kevin (Bridget), Janene (Glynn) Simmons, Greg (Nancy), Brian (Jill), Julie (Chris) Dahlin, David, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one deceased.\u00a0 Also survived by his brother, Paul and sister, Annabelle and a large extended family on his Finnish side and his wife\u2019s Italian side. Andrew demonstrated valiant Finnish \u201cSISU\u201d in his lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>A Funeral Service will be held at Oak Pointe \/ South Hill Church of Milford,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=1250+South+Hill+Rd.,+Milford&amp;oe=utf-8&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;gl=us&amp;z=16&amp;vpsrc=0\" target=\"_blank\">1250 South Hill Rd., Milford<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11 AM.\u00a0 Burial and military honors will follow at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lynchfuneraldirectors.com\/death_notice.aspx?Operation=preview&amp;noticeid=2360\">Oak Grove Cemetery.<\/a>\u00a0 Friends may visit at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lynchfuneraldirectors.com\/death_notice.aspx?Operation=preview&amp;noticeid=2360\">Lynch &amp; Sons Funeral Home, 404 E.
