It was really fun to taste the varied ways of making Moijakka, at the 2nd annual Moijakka cook-off. Great weather and Great times at the Finn Camp! Thanks also to the O'Brien family for demonstrating on the Apple Press. The Cider was really tasty! The Moijakka winner was Kemmi Parisi, way to go Kemmi! And remember all the proceeds went to the scholarship fund! She was such a dear, loving lady. I got to know her when I would help out at the children's plays. She really loved her family, and the Finn Camp. It will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Redford on Sunday, Jan. 20th at 2:00 p.m. The church is located on Mercedes St. (2 blocks east of Inkster Rd., 1 block south of Schoolcraft Rd / I 96. Thanks to Angela S. for the information. Although Herb was not a member of the Finn Camp, he was a long time friend and a member of the Loon Lake Singers for many years. 16 January 03, 2008 - 10:25 AM David R. Hall and Joann Laitinen Hall   We are trying to find out ASAP what the dates are for Juhannus weekend and Finn Fest weekend in 2008. The family name is Jalkanen and my Grandmother'smaiden name was Pesola. My Mother and her 8 brothers and sisters are from there. I would be interested in meeting anyone affiliated with this camp and in bringing my 3 children, ages 12, 15 and 16.
