It was good to see so many people in the clubroom to show their respect for Dana Aro. The Finn Camp will miss him greatly. As will I.

Thank you to the organizers of the Autumnfest on Saturday, Sept. 27. It was really fun to taste the varied ways of making Moijakka, at the 2nd annual Moijakka cook-off. Great weather and Great times at the Finn Camp! Thanks also to the O'Brien family for demonstrating on the Apple Press. The Cider was really tasty!
The Moijakka winner was Kemmi Parisi, way to go Kemmi!
And remember all the proceeds went to the scholarship fund! Extra thanks to Millie,Steve & Carol Melancon & others for bringing on this fun event.

The new website is terrific. I just found an old article on the Finn Camp I will send. Mom, Sylvia, is now 95 and still going strong. And I still remember the great times growing up at the lake. Love to all, Georgia

Dear family of Denise Dykstra, I want you how sad we were to hear about Denise's sudden passing. She was such a dear, loving lady. I got to know her when I would help out at the children's plays. She really loved her family, and the Finn Camp.
God Bless you-(Former Finn Camp Members) Linda and Dan Taipala

We'll, I did it! Winter Fest 2008 was a splash for me. I jumped in Sun Lake 3x. What a "brain freeze" that was. Don't know how many more years I'll be doing that tho. Somehow my kids motivate and keep me young at heart.

Just heard about the camps that may be available to purchase and would like more information from those who know...or if anyone is selling a camp you may be just the person to talk to! My Mother, Rebecca Lampi was from Eagle River so I have the "Finn" in me! Thanks!

I just received further information regarding Herb Piilo's memorial service. It will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Redford on Sunday, Jan. 20th at 2:00 p.m. The church is located on Mercedes St. (2 blocks east of Inkster Rd., 1 block south of Schoolcraft Rd / I 96. Thanks to Angela S. for the information. Although Herb was not a member of the Finn Camp, he was a long time friend and a member of the Loon Lake Singers for many years.

We are trying to find out ASAP what the dates are for Juhannus weekend and Finn Fest weekend in 2008. So far there seems to be no mention of these dates anywhere on this site; did we miss them somehow? Or have the dates just not been set yet? Many thanks to anyone who let us know these dates. We don't want to miss them! --Dave and Jo Hall

My grandparents are from Finland and established their family in the Upper Peninsula in Chassell. The family name is Jalkanen and my Grandmother'smaiden name was Pesola. My Mother and her 8 brothers and sisters are from there. I would be interested in meeting anyone affiliated with this camp and in bringing my 3 children, ages 12, 15 and 16. I remember attending this camp when I was young and it was a great time.
