The 2021 Annual Membership Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 25 beginning at 12:00 noon. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. The annual meeting will be held outside at the dance hall, weather & state restrictions permitting. In order to expedite the meeting committee chairs will not be giving oral reports. The board is asking for all committee reports to be submitted in writing by April 10th (email: email@example.com). Copies of reports will be available. There will be no food at this year’s meeting. Face masks are highly recommended. It is very important that all members attend the meeting and be part of the decision making process of our association. Many issues will be discussed and voted on. Motions will be proposed to spend special projects money: not more than $15,000 to cover expenses & lost revenue due to COVID closures and not more than $20,000 to have natural gas lines installed at both camp bathrooms (to replace the propane).
If you like to prepare a motion ahead of the meeting, a motion form is a fillable PDF can be downloaded and printed. There will be forms available at the meeting.
We would all like to open Finn Camp and enjoy this weekend at the beach but Finn Camp must follow the law. Everyone has a different comfort level with the current situation and we must remember, this won’t last forever. Please be kind to one another.
As per the current executive order 2020-92:
-All public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring among persons not part of a single household are prohibited.
-No person shall conduct business operations that require workers to leave their homes except to conduct minimum basic operations.
-Minimum business operations include maintaining the value of inventory & equipment, care for animals, ensure security, process transactions (payroll), facilitate other workers to work remotely.
The typical duties of a beach manager are not consistent with minimum business operations for Finn Camp and therefore the Sun Lake Beach cannot be opened at this time. We are unable to just leave the Gates open without a Beach Manager as this is a huge liability for us all.
The Executive order allows for individuals to leave their homes to engage in outdoor recreation activity. While the gate to Sun Lake will remained locked until further notice, any member can use their gate key to go down and enjoy it. Picnic tables and other furniture have not yet been put out. The sauna building will remain closed. If you open the gate, you are responsible for closing it. If you don’t lock it behind you after entry, you are responsible for who comes in. The grounds are expected to be used only by members at this time until restrictions are lifted. Everyone is expected to follow the social distancing guidelines as defined in this executive order. The outdoor bathroom will be opened on Friday, May 22nd and cleaned daily. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sunday, June 12, could be your lucky day at our annual fishing derby. (This event is for members and their guests only; guests are responsible for any nonderby beach fees.) Registration ($5, including lunch; donations accepted) starts at 9:00 a.m., the fishing begins at ten and lunch is about noon. Fish for hours, enjoy a freshly cooked fish-and-chip lunch—and maybe even win first prize in the fundraiser: a portable gas grill! Tickets are only $1 each; see Kemmy, camp 153.—Kemmy Parisi
As discussed at the October semiannual meeting, we are in great need of a new lawnmower. To save money, the mower should be purchased before December 31. Accordingly, the board is asking the membership to attend a special meeting on Sunday, December 28, at 12:00 p.m. to vote on purchasing a new Kubota 60-inch, 26-hp Diesel, zero turn, riding mower. The price would go up 4 percent January 1. A new lawnmower will inevitably have to be purchased soon regardless. Without gaining approval for this mower at this special meeting it will cost more next year.
At least 20 percent of the membership is required to attend to have a quorum for a vote. Please make every effort to attend.
