    Finn Camp Dance Hall

If you’ve ever had a Finnish friend -- as I have -- who irons shoelaces and pillowcases, then you know that Marie Kondo, the Japanese woman famous for her tips on order and decluttering, has nothing on her Finnish counterparts!

Finland, the country where for four consecutive years citizens have been named the happiest people in the world by the UN World Happiness Report, is considered safe and trustworthy. But one shouldn’t overlook the happiness that comes from a clean and tidy home environment.

Here at Finn Camp everyone loves the sauna and the feeling of joy that comes from being steam cleaned.   The Sisu Sisters want your happiness to extend beyond the sauna to the order in your home and camp. With less stuff, you will see and appreciate your favorite things more, and it will give you peace of mind.  Just think of the rag rugs that mummo and täti (grandma and aunt) used to make: wasn’t that a great Finnish example of how to rid closets of old clothes and turn them into something useful, even beautiful?

Now’s the time to start your spring cleaning and help the Sisu Sisters get ready to celebrate Clean Sweep Day! Donate your vanha tavara (castoffs) to Finn Camp for our garage sale.  It will make you [and the Sisu Sisters] some of the happiest people in the world!

Please drop off donations at the Dance Hall on June 3rd from 5pm to 9 pm or by arrangement with Tammie King at 248 624 6691 or during the week prior to the sale.

All proceeds from donations will be used for beautification projects at Finn Camp

  • Fishing Derby

    4 weeks from now

    9:00 am – 1:00 pm 4 hours

Back on June 9th, 2019 the weather was fair and the fishin' was fine.  Over on the ol' fishing dock, the mighty nippers that were beggin' and a bobbin' for all of those fresh worms suddenly vanished.  King Scott Taipala knew that somethin' was amiss.  He grabbed his trusty fly rod and started searching for something deep down in the shallows of the water.  As quickly as he caught bluegill after bluegill, they were just as quickly dispatched into the buckets scattered across the dock, whippin' that rod that came as natural as breathing.  In what seemed like seconds, The King had what could be the target on his line.  After more seconds of finessing his line, a pretty awesome pike was lifted out of the water and into the King's hands.   All of the fisher's cheered and enjoyed the mighty nippers come back to feast on their crawlers.  Disclaimer:  This tale is anything but tall and as I remember.  For any clarification, please ask The King himself.

$5 registration fee includes lunch; non-fishers can still enjoy lunch for $5 plus a dish to pass.  Registration does not include beach and/or sauna fees.

9am – Registration and fishing begin

12pm – Lunch is served (fried fish provided by all of our fabulous fishers, hot dogs and burgers to be supplied by Committee)

    1pm – Derby prizes and 50/50
