Do you have Finnish roots?<\/p>\n July 26\u2013August 6, 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n Now it\u00b4s your change to experience the Finnish culture, language, and nature by\u00a0taking part in Searching the roots in Finland next summer.<\/p>\n An empirical acquaintance to the Finnish culture and language as well as to your roots.\u00a0The course is for people with Finnish background, living or having lived abroad.<\/p>\n Download the SEARCHING THE ROOTS<\/strong><\/a> brochure in PDF format.<\/p>\n <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n During the course you will:<\/p>\n \u2022 learn about South Ostrobothnia and its culture<\/p>\n \u2022 visit The Institute of Migration, situated in Per\u00e4sein\u00e4joki<\/p>\n \u2022 hear lectures about the history of migration to America<\/p>\n \u2022 experience nature through various trips<\/p>\n \u2022 prepare traditional Finnish delicacies and study Finnish a bit<\/p>\n \u2022 learn how to research genealogy (both North American and Finnish sources of\u00a0genealogical research and their methods) and research your own roots<\/p>\n The participants need not the knowledge of Finnish language because all tuition is in\u00a0English. During the weekend of 1 st and 2nd of August there is no tuition, which means\u00a0you have the possibility to visit e.g. your relatives or friends.<\/p>\n Course fee: 590 euros including tuition, meals and accommodation in a double room. Fares\u00a0to and from Opisto are not included in the price but the participants arrange them by\u00a0themselves.<\/p>\n South Ostrobothnia Folk High School is going to arrange the course in cooperation with The\u00a0Institute of Migration. South Ostrobothnia Folk High School in Ilmajoki has long traditions, it was\u00a0founded as early as in 1892 and it is situated in a rural environment which is culturally historical and\u00a0naturally beautiful.
