Juhannus

Welcome in summer with our annual Juhannus celebration on Saturday, June 23. Featured events include our traditional music and famous kokko (bonfire) at 10 p.m., the Sixth Annual Car Show and dancing to traditional Juhannus classics with the Don Reinholm Band at 6:30 p.m., followed by music at 8:30 in the Dance Hall, and a 50–50 raffle. The kitchen will be open on Saturday from noon to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday for breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00.

Buttons (tickets) for Juhannus will be available at the Car Show registration table, or see the overall chairman of the Juhannus committee, Dick Pype. Buttons are $5 for adults. Children 18 and under are free.

Sixth Annual Car Show

This year the annual car show will be held June 23, from noon to 4:00 p.m., as part of the Juhannus celebration. There is no charge to view the Finn Camp’s softball field full ofmeticulously reconditioned classic cars. In fact, for only $5 you can enter your own vehicle, in whatever level of completion you have reached with it. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m., with the show beginning at 12 o’clock and the awards at 4:00. No preregistration, just $5 at the gate. All makes are welcome. All you have to do is sign a liability form and pay the entry fee. All proceeds will go to the Juhannus committee.

This year’s Juhannus–Finn Camp Car Show Raffle prizes are: First place—a package of tickets to a Tigers’ game. Second place—a Mac sports folding wagon. Third place—a bucket of car products. You need not be present to win. The drawing is June 23 at 4:00 p.m. Raffle tickets and car-show flyers will be in the sauna, Clubroom or see Mike or Mary Barie. Come vote for your favorites, and buy your 50–50 and raffle tickets! Help put the word out, to friends who may be owners of classic cars and others who would enjoy the event.

Music and Dance

Traditional Juhannus music returns to the dance hall on Saturday, June 23, from 6:30 to 8:00, and then, when the sun goes down, “Music by the Hot Kokko Band” goes to join the party by the kokko at 10:00 p.m.
