It’s almost festival time! Mark your calendars and plan on coming out to support this major fund raising event. Get some of your hours worked, visit with fellow members and friends, and cheer on the Finn Camp’s Voima Boys softball team!
The festivities begin on Friday, with the kitchen and beer truck opening at 5 p.m. The Home Run Derby will get started around 6:30 p.m., come see the big hitters knock ‘em into the woods! Then we will dance the night away in the Clubroom.
On Saturday the kitchen will open at 8 a.m. for breakfast with food available all day in the Ravintola or the food tent. The softball tournament also begins at 8 a.m. with games on our George Aho Memorial Field and the Gilbert Willis Park fields. Flag raising ceremonies by the Wixom VFW post 2269 will be at 11 a.m. There will be music/entertainment from the Dance Hall’s porch plus 50/50 raffles, the pitching booth, dunk tank, horseshoes, bocce ball, face painting, and the sale of Finn Camp/Finn Fest merchandise all day. Save some energy for the dance floor with our DJ playing all our favorites in the Dance Hall.
On Sunday we will do it all over again! The kitchen will open for breakfast at 8 a.m. with food available all day. Softball will continue on all three fields with the championship game on the Finn Camp’s George Aho Memorial Field in the late afternoon/early evening and followed immediately with the trophy presentation. Music, raffles, and other activities will continue as well.
Many members are needed to work in all areas through out the weekend, especially in security and kitchen areas. As a cooperative association, please participate by giving a few hours of your time to pitch in and help make our festival successful! Work hours sign-up sheets are posted at Sun Lake beach.
